Meet John Eastman: Business Central Developer @ Centre

We know our success comes from the people who go above and beyond to deliver for our customers every single day. From building custom ERP integrations to solving complex technical challenges, John Eastman, BC Developer on our BI team, exemplifies what it means to be a true technology partner. His lifelong passion for invention and innovation drives his commitment to creating tailored solutions that make a real difference for our customers. Whether he's streamlining operations or collaborating with teammates, John brings creativity, precision, and a deep love for technology to everything he does.

Like our last @ Centre feature, John’s approach to software development goes far beyond just getting it done. He’s someone who sees every integration as an opportunity to invent, improve, and empower. Whether he’s building custom ERP solutions or collaborating with our customers to streamline their ERP, John brings a rare blend of technical depth and creative thinking to every project. His passion for technology started early—writing BASIC code at age five (are you impressed yet?)—and continues to fuel his drive to deliver meaningful, lasting impact. John reminds us that being a technology partner isn’t just about solving problems, it’s about creating something better, together. We’re proud to spotlight John Eastman and the difference he makes for our customers and our #ONETEAM every day.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Inventor. I enjoy creating...something new, different, or unique. Obviously there is not really an "inventor" as a profession. I grew up in the 80s/90s where computer technology was at its onset. I naturally gravitated towards computer software and hardware engineering at its infancy. I was writing BASIC code at age of 5, saving my programs to a 5 1/4" floppy. My "inventor" dream job met reality and morphed into my love of computer tech to be a software engineer. My day-to-day job of today can certainly relate to being an "inventor" with the flexibility of creating software for clients. Although I could do without writing reports for accountants!

How would you describe your role’s impact on Centre customers?

As a software developer focused on ERP integrations and customizations, my role directly impacts Centre customers by delivering tailored solutions that enhance their business operations. By developing seamless integrations, I ensure that our ERP system connects effectively with customers’ existing tools—such as BC, GP, or third-party platforms—enabling a unified flow of data that streamlines processes like order fulfillment, financial reporting, and supply chain management. This reduces manual effort, minimizes errors, and provides real-time visibility, empowering customers to make informed decisions quickly.

"John is an outstanding team member who always goes above and beyond in their work. His eagerness to tackle tough problems and learn new things really shows their dedication and enthusiasm, which has a hugely positive impact on our team and projects. John's ability to juggle multiple demands is impressive, highlighting their great organizational skills and attention to detail.  His ability to consistently work with tight deadlines and evolving requirements takes effort and know-how that he has built over the past decade."

If you could only play one game for the rest of your life, which one would you play and why?

WWII Online because I enjoy it. WWII Online was a subscription based MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game). It was produced by a small company, Cornered Rat Software. My buddy, who's also a WWII buff, told me of this amazing upcoming game and the developers were giving a presentation about it in their studio in Irving. We became internal beta testers for their product before and after release of their game, so I was intimately involved with the game and the people who developed it. This was over 20 years ago.

The game was ahead of its time. It was a single instance, persistent online world where Axis and Allies fought over changing territory. You can command airplanes, tanks, AT units, infantry, armored trucks, supplies, etc. Everything was based on realism from the airplane dynamics, to the weapon trajectories, armor penetration, etc. There were no hit points. You could take off in a BF190 and fly across the pond over the cliffs of Dover to engage in battle with infantry on the ground without ever leaving a server or instance, everything was encapsulated/contained within a single online persistent instance. It always remained a niche game that never took off like other games of its time because of the steep learning curve, extreme realism, and demanding hardware requirements. Being a super nerd, I've played pretty much every computer and console game that has existed and nothing holds up to that game.

In your own words, how would you describe Centre’s differentiators?

Centre’s differentiators lie in its customer-centric approach, technical expertise, and innovative solutions tailored to unique business needs. As a software developer working on ERP integrations and customizations, I see firsthand how Centre stands out by delivering highly personalized ERP solutions that seamlessly connect with clients’ existing systems.

If you were stranded on a deserted island alone, what three items would you need?

Towel, Chapstick, and ice skates. Do with that what you will.

How would you describe the #ONETEAM culture at Centre?

The #ONETEAM culture at Centre embodies collaboration, unity, and a shared commitment to excellence, which I experience daily as a software developer working on ERP integrations and customizations.

John, you are a true example of what it means to lead with creativity and curiosity. Your dedication to building smart, scalable solutions (and your passion for technology that started long before most of us could spell “floppy disk”) continues to inspire those around you. We’re incredibly grateful to have innovators like you on our #ONETEAM who not only solve complex problems but also bring heart, humor, and a deep sense of purpose to every project. If you haven’t had the chance to work with John yet, just wait—you’ll quickly see why he’s one of a kind. Chances are, you already do.
